Wellness is more than the absence of disease. It is the fullness of our emotional health. If we can use our physical abilities to their full potential and fuel our bodies with good thoughts and good food, we are moving towards wellness. Our well being is not a destination, it is a journey. With a sense of wellness, we approach each day in a way that allows us to make the most of what we are given and feel blessed with what surround us.

With seven days in a week, you have seven chances every week to help you achieve your best self. Here are the seven wellness messages that resonated with our readers over the last month of daily posts. These are reminders but also inspirations. So much happens in a day that we often need a little reminder of what matters most.

#7 Water is Life

We need 2 litres or 8 glasses of water a day. Keeps our skin moist, our kidneys pumped, our brains alive, our muscle reactive, our joints lubricated and our lungs mucous-free. It is also the best treatment for hang-overs, constipation and weight gain…now we’re talking!

#6 Skin Care is your Best Defence

Healthy skin produces Vitamin D for strong bones and actually manufactures anti-bacterial substances to prevent infection. Cleanse and moisturize daily.

#5 Music Heals the Soul

Listening to music causes our brains to release Dopamine which is a natural feel good chemical that is essential for pain management and mood boosting.

#4 Walking is Good Medicine

Walking is our most natural movement and it helps improve memory, boost our immune system and maintain healthy weight.

#3 The Secret Power of Laughter

Laughter triggers a burst of brain activity causing a release of a chemical connector called Serotonin, the same transmitter that anti-depressant drugs stimulate.

Don’t override your body’s signal to sleep. Sleep is our healing time.

#1 Unbroken Resilience

Resilience is our ability to have capacity for adversity, challenge, discomfort and fear by staying focused on the silver lining and creating purpose in our chaos.
